This November, we are launching a new afternoon tea experience at the Design Kitchen in celebration of Wes Anderson: The Archives, the museum’s latest exhibition. Following the overwhelming popularity of our Tim Burton-inspired tea, our chefs have returned to the world of film to create a tea that brings Anderson’s unmistakable aesthetic to the plate.
Our Executive Chef, MasterChef: The Professionals winner, Steve Groves shared how much the previous afternoon tea resonated with guests:
“We were overwhelmed by the response to our Tim Burton-themed afternoon tea. The enthusiasm was beyond anything we could have imagined. Over five months, we sold an incredible 4,000 experiences and even extended the offering due to popular demand.”
The new exhibition offers a rare glimpse into Anderson’s personal archive, featuring original props, costumes and sketches collected over more than thirty years. Drawing inspiration from this visual storytelling, Steve Groves and our culinary team have developed a menu that merges meticulous design with playful creativity.
At the heart of the experience is a handcrafted recreation of the Courtesan au Chocolat, a tribute to the iconic confection from The Grand Budapest Hotel. As a special touch, each guest will receive a recipe card to recreate this multi-tiered choux pastry at home. It’s a fitting centrepiece, both visually and technically, capturing Anderson’s signature precision.
The menu also features a selection of savoury canapés and vibrant patisserie items that continue the narrative. Carefully layered flavours and delicate presentation reflect the attention to detail found throughout the filmmaker’s work.
The themed afternoon tea launches at the Design Museum on 21st November 2025 and will be served in the Design Kitchen.
