Executive Chef at Unity Place talks about his team at Milton Keynes’ newest destination

Unity Place has recently hired two of the College’s catering and hospitality students as apprentice commis chefs and is looking to take on an accounts apprentice soon.

Although they have only been working with the College for a couple of months, Nick says he is already impressed by the College’s commitment to its students and the local area.

Nick explains, “Working with the College has been a really good way for us to build bridges with the local community. We’re both based right here in Milton Keynes and both really into sustainability and supporting local people.”

Unity Place aims to create a thriving, sustainable, and inclusive future for Milton Keynes, where community, business, and leisure are brought together through a shared ethos.

Designed and built over seven floors, each space has been developed with a purpose and will be home to renowned chefs, local eateries, social enterprises, business ventures, wellness amenities and outstanding conference and event facilities.

Nick says working with MK College has huge benefits for Unity Place as it looks to develop its workforce of the future.

He says, “It’s all about building those local connections and supporting the young people here in MK who are carving out their own paths in the hospitality world. We want to bring in the right people who share our passion for great food and top-notch service.”

When asked about his experience of working with the College, Nick says, “They’ve been top-class, honestly. The staff are professional, efficient and super helpful. They’re just on top of everything.”

When asked what he would say to other local employers considering working with MK College students or hiring apprentices, Nick has this advice.

“Absolutely go for it. It’s straightforward really. Everyone at the College is very hard working, and passionate about what they’re trying to achieve.”
