Our culinary team recently enjoyed a trip to the Lake District to see at first hand some of the incredible conservation work and ethical rearing of livestock that the Lake District Farmers manage.
Our chefs had the opportunity to learn more about sustainable farming methods, fell farming and the work that goes into producing carbon neutral beef - a first of its kind in the UK. The Lake District is known for its magnificent mountain and lakes, but it is traditional farming that gives the region its distinctive character.
Managing Director, Dan and his team remain closely connected to the people and landscape that produce, rear and raise their stock, being alongside them every step of the way. This ensures that the LDF team unequivocally understand the level of passion, patience and solid hard work that goes into creating the finest quality and most ethical produce. This connection and dedication to their farmers enables LDF to play a major part in protecting a long-standing way of life that is becoming increasingly rare, whilst supplying top quality produce to Restaurant Associates – the perfect equation to protect and preserve traditional fell farming for generations to come.
It was great to see the passion, care and commitment from the farmers who deeply care about the welfare of their animals whilst minimising their environmental impact at the same time.
