Restaurant Associates Venues Achieves Gold Bristol Eating Better Award

We are delighted to announce that Restaurant Associates Venues has achieved the Gold Bristol Eating Better Award across the twelve Bristol City Council sites that we proudly operate. These include iconic venues such as M Shed and Create Centre, as well as a collection of park café outlets across the city.

This award recognises organisations committed to offering healthier food options while taking meaningful steps to reduce environmental impact.

The Bristol Eating Better Award focuses on 12 objectives across three key themes:

Healthier eating: taking action to provide more healthy food.

Sustainability: taking action to make food offerings more sustainable.

Sustainability and community: supporting the local economy, training, communicating and collaborating with others.

To secure gold status, organisations must complete 27 core actions and commit to an additional 36 actions of their choice.

Some of the ways we have achieved this include shaping menus around fresher, lighter choices and refining everyday practices to support healthier habits. Lower sugar drinks and snacks sit alongside fresh fruit on counters and dishes are prepared with reduced salt, reduced saturated fat and a strong plant-forward focus.

Sustainable actions guide our operation through careful ordering, monitored food-waste reduction and the use of recyclable packaging. We are strengthening connections with local suppliers and developing a food map that highlights their proximity to Bristol.

This award highlights our commitment to helping our teams and guests make healthier, more sustainable choices. From including more plant-based ingredients on menus to minimising food waste, small actions across our Bristol estate are making a big impact on the environment and our community.

We are proud to continue working with Bristol City Council, supporting initiatives that promote healthier eating and sustainable practices and setting a benchmark for responsible catering across the city.
