Glyndebourne is an opera house in the heart of the Sussex countryside. It all began with a love story in 1934, when founder John Christie met soprano Audrey Mildmay. Glyndebourne is now one of the finest and most celebrated opera houses in the world, delivering performances to some 150,000 people across a Summer Festival and an Autumn Tour. Fine food and Glyndebourne go hand-in-hand.

Glyndebourne has two on-site restaurants where your experience can range from a relaxed afternoon tea to sumptuous fine dining overlooking 12 acres of glorious gardens.

Dining and Receptions

We are proud to operate Glyndebourne’s three on-site restaurants, where experiences can range from a relaxed afternoon tea to sumptuous fine dining, this year curated by esteemed Chef Steve Groves.

Middle & Over Wallop

Experience culinary excellence at Middle & Over, our esteemed fine-dining restaurant, where chef Steve Groves leads with a beautifully crafted new menu for our 2024 festival.

Chef Groves has been with Glyndebourne since 2021 and has a culinary journey spanning renowned establishments like Roux Parliament Square, Launceston Place, and The Inn at Perry Cabin.

Named National Chef of the Year in 2019 and a memorable contender on the BBC's Great British Menu, Chef Groves is celebrated for his innovative approach to contemporary French cuisine. At Middle & Over, he masterfully combines this culinary tradition with the freshest, locally sourced, seasonal ingredients, such as Sussex asparagus, strawberries, honey, and artisanal local cheeses.
